Here is the story of two couples that proove it to us !

Melisa Theberge and Chantal Turmel are two young women who have decided to marry this summer.
Their meeting, by Internet, dates back to December 2000. When they talk about their relationship, their eyes sparkle and two words come to mind: love and fusion, since they are constantly looking for each other’s physical touch.

Last fall, they have taken the decision to marry. “We will marry to formalize our union, because the commitment that is being given is not the same, the fact to say that we will have signed documents and that we will be together for eternity, for better and for worse, makes the union more important,” says Chantal. “I think that it is bigger to engage it in writing, and that is why there are many who dont do it. ” Added Melisa. They are planning an intimate marriage in Quebec city. “Our friends will come before or after, we are not into big celebrations, it is really something for us”, they explain together.

With the celebration of their union also arrive many projects, their first purchase of real estate, a loft in the Village, which they adore. Melisa, who is an aircrafts mechanic and has her commercial flights pilot license, has been working at a Second Cup since the lay-offs of Air Transat and would like to finish her degree :  “I love working there and I love the atmosphere in the Village! “, she said. Chantal wants to continue her job as a police officer. They are both huge fans of trips. They would like to go camping on their honeymoon. Together, they have already done bungee twice and parachuting. With eyes full of pride and love, they tell me the secrets of the success of their relationship.

“It is in the investment, this is not easy nor free, it is important to show interest in the other person. If there is a word to describe what I love about Melisa, it’s her authenticity. We have a beautiful chemistry. I find her wonderful. With time, I realized that it’s with her that I wanted to be because we complete each other very well. We have our fights like all couples and they help us grow,” explains Chantal. Their relationship has not always been as rosy. “In the beginning, she wanted to know nothing about me. For eight months, we were only friends, but the more I would hang with her, the more I wanted to be with her. I knew she was the one I needed. She brings me so much, with a strong character that I greatly appreciate. ” In regards to homosexual couples rights, they are trusting in the future. “I think that it’s a question of time and then marriage will be possible in many provinces.

There are people who never understand, because of their religion for example. It should be live and let live and as long as there is respect, it’s fine. ” said Melisa.

Michel Godin and Samuel Alvarez Pizzorno have been together for five years and will get married next year. Michel met his spouse the first time he went to a gay bar and they have been a couple since that day. “At that time, I was very unhappy, I wanted to get out in the Village to understand if i was gay and I met Samuel. I spent the evening with him and the next day he met my mother. She moved out and he joined us to help. I lived in L’Assomption and everyone gave us a month tops “, explains Michel. At the beginning, he was reluctant to marriage: “I felt that marriage was not for gays.

The acceptance of his family, to see I was important to them, and that they had accepted me as I am has made me change my mind. There is also all the tax issues which will be simplified. I am proud of our couple, it is a security. “Samuel, who is originally from Chile, was ready to marry Michel a year after they met: “I love him, he brings so much in my life, I am sure that he is the man for me as I am certain of the air that I breathe. We really complete each other. We have our disagreements of course, especially in the first year because we moved together early, but the secret is to always love. In my country there is a lot of discrimination against homosexuals. Here, I do not want to hide, one has the right to go to gay clubs, the right to marry, and I want to take advantage of it because I don’t think I am abnormal because of my sexual orientation. I have the same aspirations of everyone else, I want to buy a home, age with my spouse, have children maybe “, explains Samuel. They have faced many difficulties together, because their fathers are deceased, as well as one of their great-grandparents.

Samuel worked as a female entertainer at Club Exotica and both have fond memories of this period. “Now I work at the Casino, but at the time, I was a busboy at the Exotica. It was great to work with my boyfriend, to see his friends. It was full of good memories,” explains Michel. For their wedding, they see big: “If we have the money, we will celebrate in Repentigny where we live. We will rent a location and invite the people we love. We would like to go to Chile for the honeymoon”, says Samuel. To plan their marriage, they will probably go to the gay marriage fair : “I wish we could see outfits for homosexual couples, very beautiful and with matching styles “, explains Samuel. This young couple is so close that they keep ending each other’s sentences. “I think it works very well because we never take each other for granted and we never forget that, not even during difficult times”, says Michel with a large smile.
