The day of our wedding, we want everything to be perfect. However, there are unforeseen circumstances which may make this day less perfect and exciting. Here’s how to avoid five traps and their suite of unnecessary hassle.

wedding-plannerExceed your budget
When you make your budget, be realistic. According to Earlyn, event planner at Sweetest Things, you should save 50 per cent of the budget to the reception, the other half being distributed to other things. Make sure you know the real cost per person for the meal, taxes and service included. Most planners offer packages satisfactory for all budgets.

Hire a wedding planner you don’t fully trust
Your wedding planner is here to simplify things so that you can enjoy your day. It is therefore very important that you have full trust in him and that you’re comfortable. Always verify that this person is well organized and available. “The service that you will receive at the meetings is the same that you will have the day of your ceremony, explained Earlyn. It is therefore a person who is available at any time. I become a little  bit a friend of my clients. They can entrust me with all their needs and I do not judge, because it is the couple who is in the center of my interest. ” Avoid leaving it to your friends to organize your wedding. It is preferable to hire a professional who will think of all the details and will know what to do in case of unforeseen developments.

Forget to provide a plan B
You have chosen a  magical place for the reception? You have accomplished only half of the job! Make sure you now have a impeccable service. Sometimes it is better to settle for a place a little less sumptuous, but  to ensure a royal service, and have everyone  benefit from the event. Also pay attention to outside receptions. Check the weather forecast and prepare a plan B in case of bad weather.

Ignore the interests of the guests
When you sit your guests, try as much as possible to sit together persons of the same age group, engaged in the same type of profession or having the same interests. Don’t forget your guests with special needs (food allergies, difficulties of travel etc. ).

Not taking into account the number of guests
Always check the capacity of the location. Remember how many guests you invite, because often more people than you think will attend the event. The fire regulations don’t always allow you to add as many tables as you want.

Some things won’t go as planned: the cake will be delivered to the wrong address, the witnesses will be late, etc. even with the best organization, we cannot control all the small details that make up your ceremony. Just remember that someone is there to take care of all of it and that your only concern should be to enjoy your special day.
